RHA and Arttherapyireland are delighted to announce the 6-week art therapy group, facilitated by art therapist Andrea Clare Plunkett. The Oct-Nov Autumn 2023 group will be the latest group event since cultural art therapy began at RHA in 2019. In a new addition to our gallery art therapy, this group will be blended, with 1 online session. After this group ends participants will have the exciting option to attend the post-therapy once monthly online drop-in group for only €10 per session.

6 weeks = 5 weeks onsite in Dublins RHA Gallery and 1 week online (12th Nov)

What is Art Therapy?

Art therapy is a form of therapy that uses art media to express, reflect and communicate. You do not need to have any previous experience or expertise in art to benefit from art therapy. In gallery art therapy, also called Cultural Art Therapy, we spend time looking at RHA artworks and then reflecting on our response to them through art.

Who is it for?

Art Therapy can be used across the lifespan; these RHA sessions are for those over 18 years and cater for all needs or requirements. We are an open and inclusive space for all :)

What are the benefits?

Art therapy is founded on the belief that creative self-expression has therapeutic value for those who seek a deeper understanding of themselves and their personalities. Art therapy sessions can help a vast array of common life experiences including social or generalised anxiety, relief of stress, facilitate life transitions such as moving to a new country or adjusting to retirement, can support explorations of gender and identity and can even help artists who feel they have a creative block. Most importantly art therapy sessions offer a time to stop, relax and re-focus inward.

Booking notes:

Consent will be needed from each person attending as this is an art therapy group. Booking is non-refundable except, in the rare event that organisers cancel, natural events or government restrictions stop the group occurring. Attendance and punctuality at all 6 sessions is necessary for group cohesion. If you are attending as a professional CPD for well-being (continual professional development) please check your organisations' requirements.
